Welcome to Citrus eSchool!

We're excited to offer Florida Virtual School (FLVS) online classes with local teachers for students in Kindergarten through 12^th Grade.  We have three programs under our umbrella:  Full-Time, Home Education, and Part-Time 

Full-time Citrus eSchool courses follow the same school calendar as Citrus County's traditional schools.  Full-time students must apply for enrollment in Citrus eSchool during the application period before the beginning of each semester and must meet enrollment criteria, including passing grades and proficient state test scores, in order to be eligible.  

The full-time program has two application periods each year:  April through July for a start date of the beginning of the Fall Semester in August and November through December for a start date of the beginning of the Spring Semester in January.  Applications will be reviewed and families will be notified of acceptance decisions by email. To apply, complete the online enrollment form (housed in Skyward) and choose Citrus eSchool as the school of enrollment.

An alternative path to a fully online learning option is through the Home Education program.  This program has many of the same opportunities for students as the full-time program but offers more flexibility and has no criteria necessary for enrollment.  There are some key differences between this program and our full-time program, but the experience for the student is essentially the same.  Home education courses can be requested at any time during the school year.  To get started, the family needs to register the student using the Online Home Education Intent Form, request classes through the County Virtual School option on the FLVS website, and have a parent/guardian approve the requests.

Students who attend school in-person in Citrus County can take online courses with us though our Part-Time program.  These courses may be requested at any time during the school year.  We encourage students to complete all virtual classes during the district school year, from August through May.  However, classes that are requested by the last day of school may continue into the summer months.  To get started, the student needs to request classes through the County Virtual School option on the FLVS website and have their school counselor approve the requests.

Citrus eSchool provides standards-aligned online courses taught by Citrus County's highly qualified, state-certified instructors.

Citrus eSchool offers courses for initial credit, general and career electives, and world languages.

Citrus eSchool instructors reach out to students via email, phone, and Zoom to reteach difficult concepts and ensure students are on track for success. They communicate with families regularly to keep them informed of student progress.
 

The core curriculum offered has been reviewed and approved by the NCAA® to ensure student athletes are college ready.

Why choose virtual?

Citrus eSchool offers courses to all students in grades K-12 completely free of cost. Students may work from any place, at any time, and at an appropriate pace depending on their needs.

Students may take courses for credit recovery or grade forgiveness, to graduate early, or to take an advanced class, elective, or world language not offered at the local school.
